Today we are excited to share with you our favorite Halloween books for young readers. Books are always the perfect way to learn about a holiday, make connections to the world, go on an imaginary adventure and maybe even giggle a little. Halloween books are always a little silly and I loved sharing them with my kids.
Do you love Halloween? I love opening my door to a former student all dressed up and grinning from ear to ear. Aside from the spooky things (totally not my jam), Halloween provides this fun excitement where we get to pretend to be our favorite character in a movie or book, meet new friends and of course, there is candy. All the candy. We are currently planning our family costumes. This year we are embracing all things Toy Story. I always loved when teachers were allowed to dress up at school too. How about you?
I realize that not everyone loves to participate in Halloween based activities (including a few read alouds) and that is totally okay. I encourage you to be sensitive to your young readers as to what they are exposed to and how that makes them feel. Books should be enjoyable and provide positive experiences. Here are my favorite Halloween book read alouds that I hope you enjoy reading. You can see the list to reference for future use here.
What book would you add to this list?
Happy reading!
