Planning a trip to the zoo? Make this fun, easy, zoo-themed snack that your kids will love. This zoo snack is so easy that your kids could almost do it by themselves. We love a good themed snack, too. It’s perfect for zoo lovers of all ages. My family is really fortunate to have a great zoo nearby in Waco, Texas. We love to visit often–so much so that we have a family membership pass. The property is beautiful and makes for some great exercise on a bright and beautiful day.
Because it takes us a few hours to navigate through and see all the things, we know we have to plan ahead and pack a snack for each trip. I prefer snacks that kids can hold on their own and don’t take up a lot of room but provide a variety. This snack seems like a win every time.
How to Make an Easy Snack For the Zoo
First, grab these yummy ingredients to make your zoo snack trail mix. Have your child name the zoo animals in the animal crackers or animal cookies. We like to play fun games where you name the animals and try to imitate the sound they make. It always leads to a lot of laughs. Also, plan to make a little extra to snack on as you are prepping your zoo snack bags because it’s just too hard not to eat some popcorn and M&M’s right then. Who can resist a little salty and a little sweet? Not this girl!

Do you have a zoo where you live? Make sure you check out the option to get a family membership. If we go to the zoo more than twice a year, which we always do, the membership often pays for itself. It also keeps us disciplined to get outside and do something fun. Even if we are running low on funds, a zoo trip costs us the price of our snacks, so it just makes sense. Follow the zoo’s website and social media accounts, too, because they often have special activities for members.
