We only have two more days left of school..whoo hoo!!! I am already working on next year, full speed ahead. Starting Friday, my family is renting a lake house for a week and I will be lounging with my laptop (in between naps and swimming of course) working on all kinds of goodies. My team (I heart my team!) has decided to do a jungle theme in our hall and classrooms next year. So, I am wondering, what is your class/grade level theme and what clever ideas do you have? (Ex. student of the week= King/Queen of the jungle, job chart: Hunting for Helpers, cool way to make a chica tree, etc.) Email me a pic and I will post it too. Let’s get those creative juices flowing. All themes welcome. I am sure someone out there needs your great idea. I love to bounce ideas off of people!
Our school-wide theme for next year is sports. However, my mom helped me make a Chicka Chicka tree one year. She tore off the fabric of an old umbrella. Then, she cut large sheets of fun foam into palm tree leaves and put one leaf per metal part of the umbrella. We used a large pool noodle covered with wrinkled up brown paper for the base. You can put a dowel rod or something in it to stabilize it a bit.
We do our themes by class. This year we will be the Stunning Stars…Hollywood Stars, that is. I'm so excited to get started on this!

We don't do a school or grade level theme (I wish we did!). I have a pirate/island theme and my mom (who teaches kindergarten next door to me!) made chicka trees for our rooms! We tore the fabric from an umbrella and cut large felt leaves. We hot glued them to the bottom and top of the umbrella arms. We went to a carpet store where they gave us large, hard cardboard tubes. We covered them with burlap and stuck the umbrella in it! They're so cute! I'll take a pic tomorrow at school and send it to you!
Hi….I just did a jungle theme in my classroom this past year. I've just started my blog but I did put pictures of my jungle room on my blog. Go check it out. My mom helped me make a really cool reading hut. I'm sure your kids would love it as much as mine did.
