If you’re not a morning person, you might think it’s impossible for you to find a morning routine that works for you. Even if you are a morning person, that doesn’t mean your children are. My daughter has a morning nickname of “the beast” and she came by that nickname honestly. Ha. The secret to a perfect morning routine is easier than you think. Structure and expectations are a huge part of starting your day off on the right foot. If you and your children know exactly what everyone is expected to do each morning and the night before, it really helps make life easier.
As a mom of three, I like to think that I am the master of controlled chaos so I came up with a quick list of the most important things that I do to keep my sanity. Every tip I came up with is focused on one thing.
Prepare for your morning ahead of time!
You can create the perfect morning routine before you even go to sleep! Here’s how:
Lay out your clothes the night before so that it’s one less thing for you to worry about in the morning! Your morning routine will be thrown off if you’re too busy looking for a pair of clean socks.
Prepare or pre-cook your breakfast the night before. An easy way to do this is by making a scrambled egg and veggie breakfast burrito that you can just pop into the microwave in the morning.
Make sure that everything is all packed up and ready to go. Make sure your kids have their homework in their backpacks and that you have everything you need for your day ready and waiting to leave the house when you wake up.
As you can see, the secret to a perfect morning routine is easier than you think! In addition, it’s also important to make sure that you get a good night’s sleep! The more well-rested you are, the better your morning will go. Sleep people are cranky people and this goes for our kids too. If we aren’t taking care of ourselves, everything is affected. No one wants to start their day off on the right foot so don’t. Come up with a system that works for your family and stick with it. I’m a firm believer that we get a new serving of JOY every morning. Keep that joy. Don’t give it away to frustration, chaos and the morning blues. Every day starts with the change to be great. Choose to make it that way.
