I love crafting with my kids. Today we are sharing a fun but simple patriotic craft that you can do with limited supplies and time.
Supplies
Paint Sticks
Scissors
Paint Brush
Red, White and Blue Paint
Popsicle Sticks
Hot Glue
Instructions
Begin by placing seven paint sticks in a row. Place them closely but not touching. Use two paint sticks on the side to get them even. If your paint sticks have measurements, make sure to make these the back of your flag.
Glue popsicle sticks on the left and right side and one in the middle. You’ll have to cut a small piece of popsicle stick to secure the top. This will keep your flag together and sturdy. Don’t forget to do this on the side with the measurements, if your sticks have them.
Turn your paint stick flag over. Use a pen or pencil to create a line where you will paint your blue section. I created my line based on the size of my child’s hand.
Begin painting your flags stripes. Start with white and then paint the red stripes.
Paint your squared off section blue and allow the entire flag to dry completely.
Once your flag has dried you’ll paint your child’s hand white. Don’t put so much paint on their hand that it’s dripping but put enough that you’ll get a good print. Gently guide your child’s hand and firmly press down on the blue section. Raise their hand without moving it too much. You don’t want to smear your print. Your flag is now finished. You can seal your flag with mod podge or spray sealer if you’d like.
Happy crafting!
