Greetings friends. Another week bites the dust! The countdown to summer is on. Only eight more Mondays. Can I get a whoot whoot?! Can I also say how excited I am to NOT be in school on April Fool’s Day! Not that I would have to deal with crazy pranks, let’s face it my people are five and they don’t really think outside of the box yet. I bet if you are a middle school teacher you are REALLY glad not to be in school though. I have a rule that I won’t teach you if you are taller than me. I am 5’2” so that rules out a lot grades. I won’t say I don’t like big kids, I will just say that are too “tall” for me, wink, wink.
I had to take a nap when I got home from church today. It was actually forced upon me since my body just plum passed out. I was working on my laptop trying to crank out my Spring Unit and BAM! I fell asleep with my computer on my lap. TWO HOURS LATER, I woke up! OMG! I really don’t know why I am soooo sleepy this week but it is not good I tell you! I have got to find some vitamins or make friends with a Starbucks parent.
So, let’s talk about this summer. I am so flipping excited!! I will be presenting at Frog Street Press’ Splash Conferences in Dallas and Houston, both in July. I am attending I teach K in Vegas in July and Blogher in New York in August. If you are going to one of these we MUST meet! Seriously, we are best friends, right??? The teenagers are starting to revolt knowing I will be traveling more than them. I am looking for camps and mission trips to get them traveling too. It’s not an effort to get rid of them, just to give them more experiences, ehem. J
Ooohhh, I am also so excited to share with you my class’s newest addiction toy. We love it! You will have to wait to see what it is but maybe just one more day! In the meantime, here is a dice game freebie. This is not part of my Easter Unit so if you purchased it, here is another one for you. Click the pic to download. My kids love dice games. Seriously, more than they love me, I think. J
Do you have a four day week like me? If you have a four day weekend, no bragging. We are all happy for you….kinda! We are having our egg hunt on Thursday. Its controlled chaos and the kids love it. This week we are studying our Oviparous Unit. This is a total favorite. The kids feel so big using such a big word. Totally fun. Though you have to prepare for comments like… “It looks like they are pooping the eggs.” Oh, fun times.
Have a great week friends!

I say the say thing. Kids taller than 5' 2" are too tall to teach. 🙂

I have taught a Firstie that was taller than me…and I am 5' 1" on a tall day! =)
My kiddos love dice games too! I had a principal once that freaked if we called them dice. We had to call them number cube generators. CRAY CRAY!!!

Don't these little guys say the cutest things? Pooping the eggs – actually, an accurate description! Thanks for sharing, Renee

Love the Easter dice game. Is is possible to get it without the super pretty background? I love the teal and polka dots, but it's a lot on my color printer. Thanks.

You're the travelin teacher for sure!!! I'm working on getting out to the I Teach K conference too! I've put the word out to other teachers that would like to take advantage of the group registration discount as well as sharing a quad room at the hotel – it brings the cost down so much too {giving us extra cash to spend there}. If you know of anyone that wants to join in the savings, send them my way.
Six more Mondays to go for me : )
