In this set, you will find seven literacy center activities/games and nine math center activities/games that your students will love. Once explained, students should be able to complete the work independently. I would suggest printing on cardstock and laminating for longevity.

The literacy centers will reinforce the following skills: sight words, blends, digraphs, beginning & ending sounds, CVC words, word families, and syllables.

The math centers will reinforce the following skills: Counting, Number Sequencing, 2D shapes, Subitizing, Writing Numbers to 20, Addition, Subtraction, and Ten Frames to 20.

These games are played like Connect Four. Students will look for pictures that match the item in the upper-right corner of the board. They then take turns covering an image with the goal of getting four in a row. There are three sets of four on each page. This is a great way for students to practice beginning sounds, number identification, counting, and rhyming words.

What does counting on mean?

  • Counting on is a beginning math strategy where learners start with the biggest number (or a predetermined number) and count on (count up) from there.

This Counting On Task Card set includes three different task cards where children are given a specific number and asked to count on using a visual, dice, or a number. For example, they are given the number seven and asked to count four fingers. They will need to start at the number seven and count up four numbers. You can use the printable numbers or any in your classroom.

I would suggest printing on cardstock and laminating for longevity. If you do not want to print in color, select grayscale on your printer selections.

For example, they are given the number 7 and asked to show 10. They will need to count on three more objects. You can use the printable manipulatives or any in your classroom. I would suggest printing on cardstock and laminating for longevity. If you do not want to print in color, select grayscale on your printer selections.
