I like the clock idea, that way they are really exposed to it all year. That is a hard concept for a lot of kinders (and even older students too). Great idea to host a friend. I not only count how many days we have been in school, but I also count how many days we have left. I use paper clips. I make a chain of 10 so I have 17 rows of chains hanging down plus one chain of 5 (175 days). Then, starting on the first day of school, I take off a paper clip each day.
They love it.
